It's been long since I wanted to recreate the rolling teapot. I have done this once in my previous studio as part of a training. But that was in Arnold. Then when I started to do it as personal project I decided to do it in Renderman just to make it a challenge. Since it was more than two years I have worked in Renderman in Maya, I thought it will be the main challenge in this personal work. The shading part was easy as the workflow is pbr. I had some troubles in lighting and mainly in rendering in the case of layering, creating shadow matte and aov's. I didn't get the shadow matte so I used occlusion layer as shadow. Texturing and Shading was as usual procedural. Lighting I used a dome light, a rectangle light (for BG reflections from background) and a disc light on top of the teapot. What amazed me was that even it was a 5k resolution render, it only took 1.5 hours to render. I used Nuke for compositing. Used Photoshop to paint and remove the light information from the background plate.
